Thank you all for making our Final Fling a great day of all getting together and enjoying each other’s company.
Congratulation’s to the winners, Chris W, Geoff R and Jeannette R. ( To me the biggest winner was the club and seeing so many smiling faces, some slightly crossed eyed players in the second half thinking a nice glass of plonk before each match and they would play better)
Once again “thank you” to the members for making sure the club looked good and specifically to the Read family for the BBQ and sound effects, it made the day.
Yes we should do it again in the new year.
We will let you know about the Wednesday get together soon.
We made £219.00 from the Event, a separate cash donation of £50.00 was received and a cheque donation to the club for services of £200.00 = £469.00 on the day. (great)
Many thanks to you all on behalf of the club
2021 Club Competition Finals.
On Sunday 4th September, in front of a capacity crowd, we held our Internal Competitions Finals day.
The sun shone and we were treated to a great afternoon of bowls.
Congratulations to all that took part in the Finals but there can only be one set of Champions.
Thank you to all who came to lend their support and to everybody who contributed to the fine selection of food.
Grace Marsh Trophy: Mrs Jeannette Read
Barling Cup: Mr Chris Waters
Goldschmidt Cup: Mr Mike Melvin
Knox Trophy: Mr Chris Waters and Mr Godfrey Martin
100up : Mr Chris Waters
On Sunday 18th July 2021 we held our 100-Up competition, although a more accurate description would be 50-up as all matches up to and including the semi-finals are played for the shorter duration. Just as well, asking members to play up to 60 ends in the heat would have been cruelty personified!
So, well done to all 12 intrepid members who endured an extremely hot afternoon to play a minimum of 2 matches each and to all to take a turn in marking a third.
The draw was made by Geoff R. The 4 mini Round Robin groups were won by Chris, Jeannette, John D and Keith.
Both semi-finals were closely fought with Chris and Keith progressing to the final which will take place on Finals Day (5th September). Thanks to Graham L and Geoff R for marking the semis.
A big thank you to everyone who took part today, especially for the way that everybody got stuck in to tea making, clearing up and putting away. It meant that we all got away from the club at a reasonable time.
Please note: In order to maintain Social Distancing, as recommended by Bowls England, all of our Home fixtures will be played only on THREE RINKS until further notice.
